The Dissectums are the most highly sought after of the Japanese Maples. Their leaves are so deeply cut that they have a lacy or feathery quality and display the leaves on a skeleton of beautifly gnarled, cascading branches. The Red Dragon was introduced from New Zealand and is a popular Japanese Red Maple because the new growth is a cherry red. The color softens in the summer heat but does not go bronze. Slow grower. Deciduous. Keep outdoors.
