The Potentilla is a flowering herb native to Eastern and Central North America. It is also known as the "Five Finger Blossom" which refers to the leaves which are divided into five leaflets. The yellow buttercup-like flowers bloom in late May thru August. Edible young shoots and leaves can be harvested before flowers bloom.
