So named from its reddish bark yet difficult to tell apart from Japanese Black Pine. Distinguished from White Pine by having its needles in clusters of two. Has slender, dark green evergreen needles, borne in dense tufts at the ends of the branchlets. Bearing 2" long cones. Bark is furrowed and cross-checked into scaly plates. Hardy. Keep outdoors.
