Yaupon Holly 'Will Fleming'

This specie of holly is native to South Eastern areas of North America. The word yaupon was derived from yopún, which is a diminutive form of the word yop, meaning "tree". The leaves and twigs contain caffeine, and American Indians used them to prepare a tea, which they drank in large quantities ceremonially. The leaves are smooth and shiny and are rounded at the tip and base.
